8 Things

I sometimes pretend like I missed a meme when I'm too lazy to participate but Chani tagged me and this looked easy. So here are 8 things about moi that you might not know.

1. I hate to cook but I'm really good at it. I make really good lumpia(Filipino egg rolls) and brown sugar pie with crust from scratch. I can only make a few things but the things I can make are excellent if I say so myself.

2. Speaking of food, I'm a picky eater, I'm sure I've already mentioned that before. But I really hate fancy food- I mean food that's pretty and artistically arranged but you almost don't know how to eat it. I like simple food, not 'mixed up things', it's hard to explain. If you're picky and you're reading this, you know what I mean right?

3. I didn't learn how to drive until I was 24. This is a long, complicated story that would take forever to make anyone understand and there are too many people who read this blog who might get their feelings hurt(not that I blame anyone). I also failed my driving test twice before I was able to get my license. AND there are certain people I can't drive with because they make me nervous.

4. I sometimes record Jerry Springer. Not because I enjoy watching it. I enjoy watching my husband watching it. The combination of shock, disgust, and amusement on his face is priceless.

5. I hate casinos and gambling. I don't like the noise and the fact that it's a major rip off turns me off as well. I spent a weekend in Vegas once and the things I enjoyed most were the desert heat and the food.

6. I've never been camping. Maybe someday....I doubt it though.

7. I love science and nature shows. My siblings used to make fun of me and call me nerdy and stuff like that so I used to hide in my parents' room to watch Mr. Wizard's World and Nature. I still do and even after the all the teasing, they like them too. I recently checked out a dvd set called The Life of Mammals from the library and I love it even more than the Planet Earth series that were on the Discovery Channel the past couple months.

8. I hate phones. I hate cell phones. Despite that, I spend a lot of time on the phone because I'm too polite to say so when people call me and want to chat. I don't understand the concept of being on the phone just for the sake of, well, being on the phone.

So here's my 8 things. Kinda lame, I know but I'm feeling a little uninspired lately. Everyone's tagged, if you want to be. If not, that's ok too.

I'm around a lot of fancy food, but I agree with you- simple food is best. I hate when food comes to your table looking as if 13 people were touching it to get it "just so".

Mmmm... brown sugar pie.

I'm with you on the casino thing too. Ding ding ding ding ding...ick.

Camping- I've been, not worth the effort. Don't bother.

I wish I could claim to be good at cooking, too. I hate it and I'm bad at it, probably because I don't really know what I'm doing.

Twins on just about all of them. I HAVE been camping and I love it though.
Everything else - twins.

Right on about casinos. I hate 'em too.

I know what you mean about the food. I'm not into pretense when I'm eating. It's all about satisfying hunger. Period.

Absolutely on the cell phones. Can't stand them and when I did have one, my number was classified.

If you like science and nature shows, try to find "The Elegant Universe". It will blow your socks off. :)

With you completely on gambling and casinos. I'd rather be shot. :)

Peace,

~Chani

I learned how to drive when I was 18 but only got my license at age 26.

If you hate camping you will enjoy this post: http://tiredmummy.blogspot.com/2007/05/i-needed-laugh.html

We seem to have some similar likes and dislikes, especially phone and casinos on the negative side.

I got my license at 21 because I was a big, uncoordinated chicken girl.

And I am right there with you on the phone thing.

JERRY! JERRY! C'mon, it's amusing to see how messed up some people are!

I lurved Mr. Wizard -- I have almost all of the "The Life of..." on DVD. David Attenborough is the best!

Camping is fun, if you go camping in the right place and with the right people.

I think I've spent a total of 800 minutes talking on the phone in my life, I want a cell phone for the geekery and the data access, though. Maybe a treo.

By the way, what's brown sugar pie? How much sugar does one need in their dessert? :)

I can't stand casinos either because of the smoke, noise, and the sordid desperation so evident in people glued to slot machines.

And I'm not a phone person either. I really don't enjoy talking and view telephones as instruments with which to make plans. A lot of my friends and relatives are bigtime talkers, though, and I try to at least do something else at the same time when I'm trapped.

(catching up on your blog a little bit at a time!)

I would *love* to know how to make lumpia! I am envious of your skills. Also - I get nervous when certain people are in the car with me too, and suddenly I feel as though I'm 16 again and in Driver's Ed. Otherwise, I'm pretty much a fantastic driver. I really am! And lastly, I also agree about cell phones. I don't have one and I don't want one.

I've missed reading you - I've just been so busy lately. And tired. This was a fun entry to read.

Brown sugar pie? Sounds fabulous.

I, too, hate the phone. In fact, I rarely answer it. Ever. I email the person the next day with the "sorry, I didn't see you'd called till late" excuse.

Every. Time. I'm sure they're onto me.
