The cure for everything

My ailment? Family drama: a poisonous person's conniving/manipulating and selfish, negative behavior that caused a rift between me and a loved one, toxic feelings. I might have to cut someone I love very much out of my life just for my own emotional and mental well being. I don't know if I'm strong enough, I want to be. It's either that or MrPea and I can pack up our dog and move to Antarctica. Today I escaped for just a couple hours.

I had barely been at the beach for 5 minutes when I saw an osprey flying over head. I thought to myself, I hope he catches something close to me so I can see.

Then he dived.

If only I had a better zoom!

I thought he might have missed.

But he did get a big fish.

I read that these birds turn the fish to face the direction they fly for speed. They also mate for life.

Click on this one for a better view of the fish in his claws.

And away he goes. (Or she. The females hunt for food as well!)

There was a strange salty foam on the tide line. I sometimes find the bigger teeth here because they are shinier when still wet so I thought I would have a hard time. But I didn't do too bad.

I'm not sure but that strange piece in the upper right hand corner looks like a vertebrae. Whether or not it's from a shark, I'm only guessing. But I always pick those ones up too.

Check out that big one on the lower left!!! By the way my hand looks greasy because I took a break to put on more sunscreen. Those scallop shells will make good additions to a picture frame I've been working on.

Can you see a little bird? He's hidden well.

See him now? I don't remember the name of this species but I remember from my marine biology class that they come from the NorthEast to spend the winter here. This one must be early because he was the only one I saw. Either that or he's keeping this beach a secret as well.

I was getting ready to go home when I found this last one.

I was there for a 2 1/2 hours and I do feel better.

What a fun time, I'm so jealous. I really like the color lines on the first picture.

Also, keep in mind that if you move to Antarctica, there will be lots of penguins there.

I can't take credit for those colors, they happened by accident. They are pretty.

I forgot that you loved penguins! I think I'll stay here a little while though.....

Even if your camera doesn't have the zoom you'd like, those pictures are awesome. So many digital cameras have a horrible shutter lag, but in your photos you can get a feel for the linear sequence of events, which is totally cool.

And this is me, still jealous of your shark teeth finds.

I'm sorry you have such a toxic person in your life -- you shouldn't have to go through that, and I hope you can do what you need to do to stay sane (and healthy).

I've found that the cure for everything is warm milk and honey.

Okay that's really only physical ailments.

Problems with other people though- I've found ignoring them works the best. My person who I'd love to run as far away as possible from is Baby's Daddy. There have been so many times when I've said, "that's it, we're moving to North Carolina (or wherever else I was thinking of that day) and never coming back." Just to get away from him. Sigh.

A friend of mine once told me that the foamy white stuff on the beach is whale sperm.

Ever since then...I can't bring myself to touch it. I know it's probably crap....but there's that nagging "what if?" in the back of my head that overrides my logic.

Thanks Courtney. I do love my camera. It's only a 6m but I'll get a stronger one next year. Still it's not so bad.

Rebecca-yes! Sharks! They are everywhere, after all the sea is their home. I have yet to swim there although there are just as many sharks at the more popular beaches. I haven't seen any, only dolphins but I did see a small shark this spring while I was swimming in thigh high water.

Big Momma! I have a warm milk recipe too but I use a drop of vanilla extract. I'll have to try the honey thing. *So you know what I'm talking about. A pain in the behind that's hard to just say, "F-off to you forever!" because of familial relations. Geographical relocation sounds wonderful but it still wouldn't change anything....sigh(too)

Shanshu-Gross! Your friend has a dirty mind. It's just salt and algae. It always happens when the sea has been rough. But I can tell your friend's theory will begin to take over and add yet another 'freak out' reason to all my others in the stockpile.

Such gorgeous photos, especially of the osprey. Beautiful.

I hope your family stress recedes sooner than later. That sucks.

Thanks Anne.

Wow - what a great escape - that is lovely...

I have to say, "little pea" is what I call my baby, so I have a great deal of affection already for your blog. Not to mention your tag line made me laugh out loud! :)

I came here via your comment on Thailand Chani's "Heaven or Reincarnation" post. The question and comments so fascinated me that I wrote a post about it. I'd love your feedback - you can find it here

Nice to "meet" you. :)

Thank you Catherine, as I commented on your post, I have to again that it was so thought provoking for me. And valid to some things I've been going through....

I'm glad you like my blog name but I dare say the story behind it, is not as cute as yours. My husband has many nicnames for me since I'm so small and as I was opening a can that said,"Petits Pois" which is French for little peas(he is French Canadian), this gave him another one so that is what I named my blog. Corny right? You can say yes, it won't hurt my feelings :O)

So beautiful. I glad the sea is there to play with you when you are feeling sad.

I hope you find the strenght to do what you have to. Maybe the osprey was a sign of better things to come.

Great pictures.. and I also liked reading about the origin of "Little Pea". I'd wondered. :)

Check out today's post and let me know what you think. I'm trying to launch it.. but, as always, who knows where it will go?

Peace,

hel- Thanks for coming by, I know how busy you've been. I wish I had thought of that osprey as a good sign first! As always you've given me something to think about:O)

Chani-I'm intrigued already....

I found you from Whiskeymarie's blog. Be careful of that foam. It might be caused by the red tide that a lot of Fla have been experiencing. It causes flu like symptoms too. Red tide foam is a brown/yellow color. It's been very bad where I am on the NE coast. Your pictures are beautiful by the way!
